New Customer (Not previously had a Robin Hood or tram season pass)

If you currently do not have a tram card and it's your first time applying for a tram-only student season pass, please follow the below steps

  1. Head to https://www.thetram.net/tickets and select season tickets by clicking 'Explore'
  2. Click 'Apply for your NET card'
  3. Fill in your personal details, including your email account
  4. Create a password, which must include at least 8 characters, 1 capital letter, 1 number and 1 special digit (eg. !£?_)
  5. The system will confirm your new account has been created. Click Proceed
  6. Enter your address information
  7. On the services part A screen, click on the 'student' tab, which should change from 'No' to 'Yes'
  8. If you have been issued a UVC code to be used against the academic year ticket, please select 'academic year season ticket'. Otherwise, select the appropriate ticket which has been agreed
  9. Select the term or the start date of your card on the next screen (services part B)
  10. Student cards require a photo. The next page requires you to take or upload a photo. The photo must be of your face (passport style) without the use of filters. Unlike passport photos, you may smile if you wish!
  11. On the next page, you will need to add your proofs. Select 'enter UVC code' from the drop-down menu. Copy and paste your UVC code (case sensitive). Once your code has been entered, click proceed.

Once you have clicked proceed, a confirmation screen will show that your new pass has been created successfully

The card will automatically be printed in our travel centre. Click HERE for directions to our travel centre. Please pick up your pass at the earliest opportunity.

If you need your new pass posted to you, please contact the customer relations team. Contact information can be found by clicking here: NET Contact Information

Troubleshoot and FAQs

If you are having any issues with setting up your student season pass or online account, please see below:

  • Q. I have tried to set up a new account, but it says 'duplicate account'. What do I do? A. This may be because you already have an account for a Pay-as-you-go card or a Robin Hood Tram and Bus account. If you're new to the tram-only season cards, please use a different email address when you sign up and follow the 'new customer' instructions above. If you may have previously had a tram-only account, try the 'forgotten password' function when logging in
  • Q. I have applied my UVC code to my student season pass, but it's not scanning on the green card readers. What do I do? A. It may be that you still need to collect/download the product to your card. Please click on the following link for information on how to do this: How do I collect/Download my season pass extension?
  • Q. Can I apply the UVC code to the NET GO app? A. No, unfortunately, you can't. At the moment, the only option is to apply the UVC code to a physical card that you will need to scan before each journey.
  • Q. I have a Tram-only online account, but I can't log in or I forgot my Password. What do I do? A. Try the 'forgotten password' link first when you log in. If you have not been able to change your password or you're unable to log in, contact our team and we can reset the password for you. You can reach out via WhatsApp on 0115 8246060. Please confirm your name, date of birth and postcode.
