Do I need to register my vehicle for parking?

You are not required to register your vehicle when using our park-and-ride sites, but you may wish to for peace of mind.

Parking is free for NET tram users. Once you have parked your car, you must proceed directly to use the NET trams or have a valid ticket/season pass and registered vehicle on the day of parking.

Our car parks are intended for daily use. For information regarding overnight parking, please CLICK HERE

For further information on registering your vehicle with us, please read the below...

For single, daily and weekly tickets...

The easiest way to pay for tickets and register your vehicle is via the NET GO app. The latest version of our app (version 3.0.10 or later) now has the option to register your vehicle. *Please note that vehicle registration is not available at the ticket machines and also not available for customers paying via Nottingham Contactless, Robin Hood pay-as-you-go or flexi-travel.

If you don't have our app yet, you can find out more information, including app store links by clicking the following: NET GO! ticketing app - What tickets can I buy? What does the app do?

Once you have the app, log in or sign up as a new user and register your details. Once you're signed up and logged in, you can add your vehicle by doing the following:

  • Click the menu button (3 lines at the top of the screen)
  • Click 'My Profile'
  • Scroll down to 'Park & Ride' and select 'Add Vehicle'
  • Log your vehicle and Park & Ride information, then you are all set

You can only add one vehicle at a time. If you are using multiple vehicles, you will need to change this information each time you are using a different vehicle. You can remove and add a new vehicle easily on the Park & Ride section of the app.

Our parking enforcement agents will be able to check registered vehicles and will also be able to see ticket purchase history on the NET GO app. *No access to any other personal data

FAQs

  • Do I need to register my vehicle? No, but you can if you wish. If you aren't registering your vehicle via the NET GO app, you must park and proceed directly to use the NET system, purchasing your tickets or scanning your travel cards in the usual way
  • Do I have to use the trams if I have a valid NET GO ticket and I have registered my vehicle on the app? No. If you have registered your vehicle and you have purchased a ticket for travel, you can choose to board the trams or do whatever you wish. Before clamping any vehicles, registrations are checked to ensure you have a ticket or registered season pass. You must return to collect your vehicle on the day your ticket expires (or by the end of service, approx. 2am the following day)
  • Why do I have to add first and second choice car parks and can I not use the other park-and-ride sites? You can park at any of our park-and-ride sites. Parking enforcement agents will only check your vehicle registration and tickets on the app. The information is simply used to track trends and choices made by our customers
  • I drive 2 or more different cars. Why can't I add multiple vehicles? You can only enter one vehicle at a time. This is to prevent vehicles being registered that are not entitled to park. You can easily edit your vehicle registration info as and when you need to. Please ensure your vehicle information is always kept up to date when you are parking to use the NET system.
  • I have purchased a single/day ticket on the app and I have registered my vehicle. Can I leave my car overnight? No. You are not permitted to leave your car overnight. You need to collect your car by the end of services on the day your ticket expires (by 2am the following morning). e.g you buy a ticket on the 1st of March after parking your car. You must collect your car by 2am on the 2nd of March
  • I have purchased a weekly or season ticket on the app and I have registered my vehicle. Can I leave my car overnight? Yes. You can leave your car for the duration of your ticket. You must collect your vehicle on the last day that your ticket is valid. Any vehicles left in our car parks are left at your own risk and we take no responsibility for any damage caused.
  • If I have registered my vehicle and I have purchased a ticket on the app, can I park where I like? Yes, but you will still need to obey the rules of the car park. You must ensure you park within the marked bays only. You must display a blue badge in the disabled bays and parent/child parking bays are reserved for parents travelling with minors who still require a car seat
  • I usually pay for my tickets by using contactless, pay-as-you-go or using ticket machines. Can I still register my car on the NET GO app? No, this will not be necessary. We can only check vehicles against registered tickets on the NET GO app or registered season cards (see below). You won't need to register, but you must proceed directly to the NET system at the time you park your vehicle
  • I have purchased a single or short-hop ticket. Will my parking only be valid for the time my ticket is valid? You have to purchase a ticket at the point of parking, but a single or short-hop ticket will cover your parking for that day. You can return to the car park by paying for another ticket for your return journey, or you may choose to return on foot or by any other means. Please remember, you must purchase your ticket at the time you park your car. Walking away without paying for your ticket or using the trams, you will be deemed a non-tram user and be liable to have your vehicle clamped.

For tram-only season tickets...

For NET GO season tickets, please follow the same process as above. You can register your vehicle on the NET GO app.

FAQs

  • Do I need to register my vehicle? No, but you can if you wish. If you aren't registering your vehicle with us, you must park and proceed directly to use the NET system, scanning your travel cards in the usual way
  • If I don't need to register my vehicle, why register it at all? Registering your vehicle with us will ensure our parking enforcement agents have a log of your season ticket. You have the freedom to leave your car at one of our car parks whenever you like whilst your season ticket is valid, regardless of whether you are using the NET system or not
  • Will I have to register my information each time I extend my season pass? Yes. We log your vehicle on our systems against the expiration date of your season pass. Once this has expired, we will need to know if you have extended your season pass. It's easy to register this information. Simply send the info over WhatsApp and our customer relations team will take care of the rest
  • Why do I have to keep sending over my information when I extend my pass? Why can't I log my information once like the app? We are still looking at ways of including vehicle registration information in the details supplied to us when you sign up for a tram-only season card. In the meantime, please ensure your information is sent over to the customer relations team
  • Can I register my vehicle info on the NET GO app and use my Robin Hood tram season card? No, this will not work. The two products are very different and the information we hold on your Robin Hood tram season card is not transferable to the NET GO app
  • I have a Robin Hood tram-only season pass, can I leave my car parked over the weekend or whilst I go on holiday? If your vehicle is registered with us, you can park at any time whilst your season ticket is valid. Our car parks are intended for daily use and whilst we do not recommend leaving your vehicle overnight, you may wish to do so if you are a season ticket holder as you have already paid for your fares upfront. We are not responsible for any vehicles left in our park-and-ride sites and users leave their vehicles at their own risk

For Robin Hood tram and bus season tickets...

If you have a Robin Hood tram and bus season card and wish to register your vehicle, you will need to register your vehicle information with the NET customer relations team.

We will need to know your vehicle registration number and the expiration date of your current tram and bus season pass.

Please note that we do not have access to your tram and bus season card information, but we will need to see the expiration date of your season card. You can supply this information by sending a copy of your Robin Hood account information which you can access online or via the Robin Hood ticketing app. If you do not have access to the internet, you can visit the Robin Hood team in the Nottingham City tourist information centre and ask them to print a copy of your season pass information. You can then share this with us in the NET Travel Centre.

You can register your tram and bus season card or log into your account here: https://nottinghamcity.smartcitizen.net/public/

Once logged in, you can send over a screenshot of your account, showing the expiration of your current season pass.

Alternatively, download the Robin Hood ticketing app. If you have a phone with NFC enabled (the same function used for contactless payments) you can use the 'check card function' and take a screenshot.

For information, including app store links for the app, click the link here: https://robinhoodnetwork.co.uk/card/robin-hood-ticketing-app/

The information is displayed like this:

Lastly, you can also send a picture of our ticket vending machines once your Robin Hood tram and bus season card is pressed against the Robin Hood card reader. Hold your card on the grey box situated next to the screen. The screen will show your season ticket information, including the expiration date. Simply take a photo and send it to the customer relations team along with your vehicle registration number.
