Good day,
I am a Malaysian national currently visiting Beeston with my family. On 27 Jan approx around 1300hrs, we were travelling on a tram and disembarked at the final stop, Haucknall Station. During the journey, we were recording the surrounding scenery strictly for personal use.
While at Hucknall Station, a male individual dressed in black, brown cap, carrying a white bag with his hand in his bag and face fully covered boarded the tram. He deliberately sat awkwardly nearby and persistently stared at my family, displaying behaviour that was highly suspicious and intimidating.
While recording the scenery, this individual suddenly jumped out of his seat, shouted abusively, cursing at us and issued threats. He demanded that we stop recording and delete all footage, repeatedly accusing us of intentionally recording him, despite our clear explanation that we were only filming the scenery.
He continued to intimidate us, pressuring my husband to delete the footage, and only walked away after the confrontation escalated. To prevent further escalation or any risk to our safety, we complied with his demands, remaining calm throughout.
This incident caused distress to my daughter and me. The individual’s aggressive and threatening behaviour poses a clear risk to public safety. We want to share this experience so other passengers are aware especially the international students in Nottingham. Public transport should be safe for everyone, and such behaviour is unacceptable.
Stay alert and safe.
Thank you.

Hi Siti
I'm really sorry you're having to report this to us.
I understand many people are very particular about their privacy, which is understandable, but this does not excuse their behaviour towards you, considering you were not filming them.
Here's some further information on what you can do to report these types of incidents: Reporting anti-social behaviour or crime
I'll feed this information back to our network managers so we can keep a record of your complaint.
If you need any more information or wish to discuss this incident in more detail, please get in touch via email: info@thetram.net
